Emmy Awards 2011

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but I have been super busy with school. I had a lot of work to do, and frankly, I just havent been in the mood to update.

On Sunday, the Emmy Awards took place in LA. The trend of the night was red, and there was a lot of it. Lets start judging.

There was a lot of hype around Nina Dobrev in Donna Karen, but I dont get it. Yes she looks stunning, but this dress has been worn by every starlet to every Emmys show over the past 10 years. My biggest problem with the dress is the awful hem. As Ross Matthews said, "It looks like a sleeping bag", and it does. The second problem is the Neil Lane necklace. I like the idea of the necklace, but I wish it wasnt a chocker.

Kate Winslet looked beautiful in her red Elie Saab gown. I love the dress, but my only issue was the fit. Either let it out or wear Spanx. Its really not that hard especially for a women who has a closet full of form fitting gowns.

If she had her hair pulled back into a sleek bun, she would have easily been best dressed.

Im not sure what I dont like, but im having issues with this.

I love me some Jane Lynch, but she could have worn such a better outfit. I love the color, and her hair is super perfect, but this is what she chose to wear? I think a nice big necklace would have been amazing.

I have no idea who you are Rachael Taylor, but you look stunning. From your sleek hair and pretty Armani dress, I cant find one fault.

Minka Kelly....why?

Wow...Evan usually makes a fool out of herself on the red carpet, so this is a breath of fresh air. Its not exactly original, but its the Emmy, so no one actually expects you to look orginal. I love her hair.

Wft, Dianna? You are so pretty and yet you wear this? I respect you for not whoring it up, but this is too matronly. I do love the color, though.

The color of Sofia Vergaras dress is so stunning, and the cut is perfect. Lose the giant earrings, and I would call this a winner!

I need this dress in my closet. Kaley Cuoco, welcome to my Ones to Watch list.

This is the dress I would have worn if I went to the Emmys. I decided this when I first saw the Elie Saab Couture collection and I didnt think anyone would wear this dress, especially not Emily Blunt. Well, im happy she did because I dont think anyone else could wear this well. My only glitch is that fabric sticking out of one of her boobs. On the runway it is on both sides, so I know its supposed to be there, but she should have fixed it.

Best Dressed at the 2011 Emmy awards goes to......

Evan Rachel Wood!!! Congrats, Evan... You get absolutely nothing!

Get Kates look

My friends asked me if KMiddys Reiss dress was avalible online yet, so I did a  little research and found that it is. If your interested, you can purchase the same dress that Katie wore to meet with President Obama for $340.

http://www.reissonline.com/us/shop/womens/dresses/shola_/camel/  $340

I suggest pairing it with a pair of coral or purple shoes. I wouldnt wear it with black unless it is a sweater because it will look pretty dull.

A weekend for Glee

The cast of Glee had a busy weekend last week attending their 3D movie premiere, the Fox All Star Party, and the Teen Choice Awards. Take a look my dears.

Lea Michele attended the premiere wearing a black Marchesa mini. I adore this dress, but it seems like everyone and their mother have worn this dress or one just like it. Nothing new here. I love her hair though.

I like this dress on Dianna Agron, but I dont think its right for this event. This would have been perfect for the Fox All Star Party, but not for a premiere. I love her hair and shoes.

Jayma Mays looked super cute in her J Mendel dress. Its a bit bridal, but the slit in the middle takes care of that. I love her shoes, and Im glad that she wore black shoes and not silver, because like I already said, it would be a bit bridal.

I cant decide if I like this look on Hailee Steinfeld or not. Its cute because shes 14, but I dont think I can get over those god awful shoes.

This is how you dress a plus sized girl without making her look so clearly plus sized. I really like the figure hugging LBD under the jacket (shirt?) and how it pulls in at her waist.

Does Tina try to look bad? Even if this is the best she has ever looked (and it is), this dress looks cheap and the shoes dont help.

I love a guy who dares to be bold on the red carpet. Especially when that guy is Cory Monteith.

Im obsessed with this dress on Lea Michele. I dont even mind the sex hair. It all flows with the beach theme.

I kinda like this sexy school girl look on Naya Rivea, but it doesnt work for an event by the beach.

Jayma Mays has to be the cutest damn girl in HWood. I love that she goes bold with accessories in a  world dominated by nude pumps.
I take back my previous words about Tina, this is the best she has ever looked. I love this blue dress on her. Perfect for the event.

Nope, nevermind, this is the best she has ever looked. I love this look head to toe. She even did her hair!

I appreciate that Cory is willing to take a risk, but this just makes him look like an ass. Put on some jeans, loose the jacket (one again, why a jacket in the middle of summer) and get rid of those bracelets.

My ever lasting question is being asked again, Why the hell would you wear a jacket or sweater in the middle of summer?! I dont evem care if its a nice sweater.

Girl crush: Emma Stone

Emma Stone seems to be everywhere right now. Her new movies The Help and Crazy Stupid Love just came out, so she has had her fair share of promotional appearances. I have always liked Emma, but now I think I have fallen in love.
Everyone seemed to love this look. I am not one of those people. I appreciate her willingness to take a risk, but I just cant get myself to like this. I love the colors, but her skirt looks like it has water wings glued to it, and why would you wear a sweater in the middle of the summer? I just dont get this look.

                                                      Emma Stone in Tom Ford
I love this Tom Ford dress. I had predicted that Michelle Obama would wear this dress, but I adore it on Emma. I read that some people thought it looked like she left the hanger in her dress, but I love how it gives the dress a modern twist.
                                                        Chanel dress
On paper, this should not work: a ginger in head to toe gray. She looks so great here. Emma is becoming serious about fashion.

This was one of the only times that her blonde hair worked. Super pretty.

And this...this worked too.

See you all soon!

Recap

If you are actually reading this blog, you know that I have not posted anything new in a while, so here is a summer recap of the most talked about looks.

The Duchess of Cambridge on her North American tour
This was Kates first look on her much talked about tour of Canada. She wore an blue lace Erderm dress. I love this dress. This is what I would wear if I married a cute British prince. Its very regal and pretty.

This was one of the few looks that I really didnt like on the tour. Its a nice dress, but she is far to young to be wearing a dress like this. The thing that bothered me the most during entire tour was her lack of interesting accessories, which is interesting because if I recall correctly, she was an accessories buyer for Jigsaw.

Im more impressed by how good Kates hubby, Prince Wills looks. He just looks so natural in that plaid shirt and cowboy hat. Kate looks good too.

This was my favorite look on the tour. Its another one by Erderm. I love how regal and young it is at the same time. That color is amazing on her.

Now we know why Kate only ever wears her hair down: she looks 35. I like the dress, but its all a little matronly.

Great. And when I say "great" i mean, "great she goes from 35 to 8 overnight". I HATE this dress. The color is amazing, but this is something my little cousin would wear. This is a little girl dress. She also probably should not have chosen such a windy day to wear it:

Oops

Its not her best look, but the dress is by Princess Diana's favorite designer, Catherine Walker, so it was fitting that Kate wore it on what would have been her mother-in-laws 50th birthday.

This was Kates first look in America. I really love the color. Its perfect for a sunny day in LA. Even though we cant see her shoes, I assume that they were her trusty old LK Bennett nude pumps(see all looks above).

I take back my last comment, this was Kates first look. Trust me, this is not a good picture, its a much better look than this. I LOVE this dress, this and the royal blue Erderm are her best looks on the tour. She only gets a point off for the matchy- matchy shoes and clutch.

This was her last look on the tour. I this its a pretty dress, but I cant help but feel like she really takes the McQueen out of Alexander McQueen. AM is all about being daring and pushing the limit, so im shocked at how dull and safe all of Kates looks by them are.

Now here is other non Kate looks:

Bafta dinner:
Blake Lively in Marchesa. I love this dress, but she gets major points off for not doing anything to keep th dress from being see through. I love her earrings and hair.

This is the best Nicole Kidman has ever looked. Im in love with her baby blue Elie Saab gown. Perfection.

This was my favorite look at the Bafta event. This is Gugu Mbatha- Raw and she is in a stunning Reem Acra dress. I love the color and how regal it is.

This is Princess Charlene of Monaco. This is her at the concert after her civil wedding service to Prince Albert of Monaco. She is wearing a powder blue jumpsuit by Chanel. She took off the matching jaket and added a statement necklace. You know you are a god when you can pull off a wide legged jumpsuit without looking like an idiot.
Here is a picture of the jacket.

This was her religious ceremony dress. I am so in love with this. This is the dress that a fashion forward royal bride wears. I love the beading on her dress and how her veil just floats above her face. She didnt wear a tiara, but I love what she did wear. The train is amazing on her dress.

Here is my favorite newbie, Rosie Huntington Whiteley. Here she is in an amazing Gucci dress. I have a feeling she will be my best dressed of the year.

Here she is at the Germany premiere. I love this as well. Her dresss is Naeem Khan.

Love the dress, hate the shoes.

Girlfriend loves her backless gowns and I love her. This burberry gown is magic.

This is why I love Katy Perry. She takes risks that pay off. Im really in love with this.

Kate moss was married back in June. I really love her wedding dress, but why the hell would a girl get married in a church and not wear a bra or spanx? Instead of looking at her, im drawn right to her boobs.

Here is Mila Kunis is Lanvin. I really dont like this and its not just because she is wearing black pumps. I think the fit is too long for such a tiny girl. She should have made it shorter.

Here is Nicole in Elie Saab again. She needs to lay off of the L'Wren Scott and get on the Saab train because she looks amazing!

Emma Watson attened the last Harry potter premiere wearing a dress by Oscar de la Renta. Im in love with this tulle ballgown with an illusion neckline. Its amazing.

Love the dress, hate the makeup.

Stay tuned for part 2 :D
